The Royal Oak

On Saturday before Easter, I took mom to the Royal Oak. It's a folk music pub...and the music is real and raw. Gruff old Scotsmen aren't afraid to join in to sweet love songs - either about fair maidens or fair Scotland. It's tiny, bright, crowded, and one of my favorite places in Edinburgh. You can get a double dram of single malt for a good price, and many do just that 7 nights a week there. These clips don't do the place justice...but they might give you a wee taste of what it's like inside.

This clip starts with the bartender singing the female part from behind the masses of people.

The "wee folk club" in the basement is a little more intimate than the upper pub on Saturday.
