Prestwick

Last stop on the golf tour was Prestwick today. What a great course. My playing partner, a biochemistry professor from Illinois, hired a caddie, which was a good thing for me...as a lot of the tee shots are pretty tricky for the first timer. After a horrible start (with a 9 on the 3rd), I finished the last 14 holes 2 over par, including a birdie on 18...which was a perfect way to end the trip. So much history at this place - it was the host of the first ever Open Championship and has hosted 24 Opens overall. Old Tom Morris was the greenskeeper and pro for quite a bit before returning to St. Andrews. While it doesn't host opens anymore, it does host amateurs, and is still quite a test. All in all, I put it in my top 6 favorites...along with the Old Course, North Berwick, Crail, Cruden Bay, and Royal Dornoch. All in all, played 24 rounds in the 4 months I had here...18 of them in April.
